Who Is Eligible for Swing Bed?
Swing Bed is designed for patients who no longer require acute hospital care but still need skilled nursing or rehabilitation before safely returning home.
In general, Medicare patients may qualify after a three-day (three-midnight) inpatient hospital stay. Medicare typically covers up to 20 days of eligible Swing Bed care (excluding any non-covered services). Patients with Medicare Advantage plans may also qualify based on their individual plan benefits.
Length of stay is determined by your medical needs, rehabilitation goals and progress throughout your recovery.
How Is Eligibility Determined?
Your physician and Rochelle Community Hospital's Case Management team will evaluate whether Swing Bed is the right next step in your recovery. If you meet Medicare or insurance criteria and would benefit from continued skilled care, your physician may recommend admission to the program.
