For Women’s Optimal Pelvic Function and Health
What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?
Our pelvic floor is made up of a layered group of muscles in the pelvic area. Similar to a sling, our pelvic muscles support the bladder, uterus (in women), prostate (in men), and the rectum. If these ligaments and connective tissue that support pelvic organs don’t work as they should, the following symptoms may occur:
- Frequent urination or an urgent need to go to the bathroom
- Urinary or bowel incontinence
- Constipation
- Painful intercourse
- Pelvic pain or pressure
- Tailbone, lower back, or hip pain
Pelvic floor disorders are common, but you don’t have to live with the symptoms. Our team is comprised of rehab providers that will evaluate and treat pelvic conditions with a customized treatment plan.
Why Pelvic Floor Therapy?
According to the National Association for Continence, over 50% of women will experience incontinence and leaking during their lives.
- Prevalence of urinary incontinence increases with age. 75% of women over 65 experience leaking. (mayoclinichealthsystem)
- Contrary to popular belief, no amount of leaking is normal, regardless of whether you are postpartum or have experienced it for years.
Other diagnosis that we can assess and treat include:
- Urinary/bowel incontinence or retention
- Urinary urgency
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Pelvic pain
- Painful intercourse
